BLOG
Being the smarty-pants that you are, I'm sure you're familiar with the concept of ''bucket'' or ''life'' lists (you know those almighty compilations that people make about activities they'd like to complete before they... uh... ''go''? Yes! That's them), but have you ever actually sat down and taken a moment to CREATE one? I hadn't!
If you find yourself with a minute or two, can I recommend scribbling one out? I mean, it's all well and fabulous to say ''one day, I'm going to feast myself senseless in Italy!'' (and I'm sure that you will!), but having your dreams documented is excellent motivation for acting on them. And with that, here's my list!
(Disclaimer: Why yes, I do have a boyfriend, but he's entirely comfortable with me trotting off to one in the name of research!) The idea of speed-dating, where you have a series of one-to-one dates that last from 3-8 minutes each, is mildly horrifying, but can you imagine what an interesting experience it'd be? I'm INTRIGUED! (Plus, one of my best friends swears that they're an absolute blast!)
And you know what? I'm going to buy a globe, spin it around with my eyes closed and start planning an adventure for NEXT YEAR!
Oh, but of course! Sing it with me now: ''under the sea... under the sea! Darling it's better, down where it's wetter, take it from ME!''
Who could resist a saunter through mid-air? Not this muppet!
Can I confess something to you? I FREQUENTLY dream of spending a year taking different jobs (waitressing? Teaching? Assisting in a circus?!) and writing about the experiences. Frequently, I tell you! My only hesitation? The idea of wasting an employer's time. (I do not want to burn bridges or waste anyone's time!) Maybe I should consider various internships?
Because life's too short to not be able to exclaim ''I've leapt out of a plane!''
Intelligently named Michael Jackson, Elton John, David Bowie, James Brown, Tom Jones, Corey Taylor, Frank Zappa, Freddie Mercury, and (what else?!) Inspector Birdface.
And view aesthetics from (and with!) a fresh perspective.
I'm a serial saver and a ''that handbag costs $3000?! But you could visit London and back with that!''-ist. The thought of frittering away my pennies on stilettos is BEYOND terrifying.... and strangely appealing!
It's all a total mystery to me (what are ''all'' ords?!), which is a superb enough reason for it not to be!
Now, I could spend five minutes rattling on about why this is on my must-do list, or I could just remind you that... it's a restaurant! Underwater! UNDERWATER! Let's visit it!
Uh huh! (Sorry, Dad!)
In a forest would be PERFECT.
♥
Learning woodwork? Smooching somebody ludicrously inappropriate? Mastering Marketing?! (Hey, there's no judgement here!) What's on YOUR life list?
xoxo

your list is pretty awesome, and you can totally do everything!

what an awesome list! I especially love the travel to a random place one, and the date it a random place. Sounds like an adventure!
A bunch of my girlfriends and I are going speed dating too! All in the name of research too! In fact, my boyfriend is coming too!! :)

Fabulous list darling! I used to do these sort of lists but don't have a current one (adding making one to my to do list right now)! I've done the ballooning one and it was amazing - definitely get onto that! Agree with consulting and interior designer (when I own an apartment) and the investment ones. :) xx

You have a great life list! I don't have much of one at the moment, because I keep changing my mind about what things I want to do!

I have often thought of creating one... but I just don't know what I'd have on it! Your list has a few fun ideas... I definitely am keen for a hot air balloon ride. Speed dating, not so much... the idea positively frightens me!

Yeah my lists is on my blog - under the page 'the list'. It isn't quite as aspirational as yours, but I only have a few months left until I turn 24, so I couldn't aim too high.
I love the idea of symbol of strength. I have a origami crane tattoo which represents internal peace for me.

I am loving your list! Especially buying an insanely expensive pair of shoes, which is one of my goals as well!
I don't really have a list anymore, but one thing I want to do in my 30's is quick my job and move to Morocco for a year. I think that would be an ultimate life-changing event.

Julie - THANKS JULIE! :D And yeah, for sure! That's where the obsession stems from, I think. I *love* learning new things! Plus, there's a fear of missing out... I want to be able to experience everything! EVERYTHING!
Gillian - Woo, and *what* a start! Great list, Gillian! (Eloping in Vegas *almost* made it on to my list. ;) )
Scribbles - Do, do, do! It's so easy to think ''I want to do that!'', but I think that actually taking the time to write everything out is what separates the dreaming from the doing :)
Halley - Awesome, awesome stuff!
Natalie - They're flipping incredible and would 110% be worth the splurge, right?! And I couldn't think of a better time to get started. Go, go, plan, plan! :)
Rosie - Fantastic! I should add knitting something to mine, because I couldn't knit or sew if my life depended on it. (JEEZ I hope it never does!)
Megan - Oh, cool! Is it on your blog? I'm going to look for it! And yes! As silly as it might seem, I've always fancied having something that represented strength (like a symbol or even the word itself)... because we're so much stronger than we think we are :) (And we all occasionally need to be reminded of that!)

Love life lists - I currently have a 24 before 24 list going.
Any idea of what tattoo you want to get yet?
28 Jul 2011, Megan, http://adventuresoftheordinary.wordpress.com
I'm not entirely sure what's on my bucket list yet, but something along the lines of:
- go on a big trip on my own
- finish a piece of knitting (working on that one!)
- share a house/apartment with people other than my family
And that's all I have for now :)

I've been kind of making a bucket list in my head since breaking up with my boyfriend! Really think I should start writing some of those idea's down!
Those shoes, my god, those shoes are amazing!

I want to learn/have stocks as well and visit that underwater restaurant.
mine would be:
- wear my hair in a beehive
- learn Maori
- learn how to flyfish

Oooh I like this - I don't think I have a life list but I definitely have a next five years list :) You've inspired me to give this some thought though and actually commit it to paper (or screen)
27 Jul 2011, Scribbles, www.scribblesnz.blogspot.com
Great list!
I can think of a few off the top of my head:-
- Learn how to knit a jumper
- Going sky diving
- Have a letter to the editor printed in the paper
- Elope!
Well that is a start :) !
27 Jul 2011, Gillian, http://icametomakeabang.blogspot.com
That is a very interesting list, I think that the part of working odd jobs might be an excellent way to learn a lot from unexpected sources :D.
I have to really think about my list but here are some things that it would certainly include:
- Tour all of Europe
- Live overseas for at least a year
- Attend Campus Party again
