Friday, my sublime friend, we meet again!
From hidden gems to catch-ups with friends, ta-dah! Here's what I'm celebrating this weekend!
x Wednesday Afternoon With Vita - On Wednesday I met up with a girl that I hadn't seen for almost a year (how criminal!), the lovely and always entertaining VITA! Vita is fantastic. I met her while studying Media & Communications and instantly liked her because of her sense of humour and unique brand of honesty: Vita is EXTREMELY blunt, and will be the first person in a room or conversation to question anything and everything. (But in a completely awesome way!) It was so good to catch up with her and realise that - massive cliche` alert - even though twelve months had zoomed by quickly and numerous events had transpired, it felt as though very little had changed!
x Feeling Like A Tourist In My Own City (And Loving It!) - Another excellent thing about meeting up with Vita was that since she lives approximately fifteen minutes away from the main CBD, she's extremely familiar with the ins and outs of it, and exposed me to a HEAP of hidden gems that I otherwise may have never discovered! She recommended Bill & Toni's Italian for tantalising boccocini toasted sandwiches (two thumbs up!), showed me every single second-hand and vintage store (oh, the sparkles!) between Darlinghurst and Paddington, and took me to Copacabana's on Oxford Street for some heavy duty iced coffee and people watching. Seriously, I felt like a tourist as I kept exclaiming ''I've never been here before!'', and it was SUPERB. Sometimes you need to view your city from someone else's perspective!

Vita!

Covert photographs in second-hand stores, ooh la la!

People watching and coffee gulping on Oxford Street.

Ha! Vita spotted this as we trekked (and I mean TREKKED - by the end of the day, I could barely walk!) through the streets of Darlinghurst. As soon as she pointed at it I looked at her expectantly, raised my right eyebrow, and said ''well?!'' But, no dice!

I love Sydney!
x Opening Up Frock & Roll's Copywriting Services - It's an idea that's been brewing for a LONG time! No, Shakespeare I am not, and my writing style certainly isn't one that would appeal to everyone (but honestly, what does?!), but what's life without a few ecstatic leaps and deep, passionate plunges into what REALLY excites you?! And why toy with an idea without ever fulfilling it? We only get one chance at this whole life business, you know! So I opened up my own copywriting services, figuring that even if my inbox mocked me endlessly and saw nothing more than a couple of tumbleweeds floating around, at least I would have pursued it and TRIED - and that I always had my day job penning pieces for a travel company! Well. Amazingly, there's no ammunition for that sucker yet, because there's already a couple of prospective clients on the horizon! Whee!
x Packing For Europe - Dresses! Boots! Scarves! Beanies! It's all happening! (Next week!)
x Other Little Things - Late-night mugfuls of vanilla tea with milk and honey, Muse's Hysteria; croissants for breakfast (oui!); chinotto; wild weather; friendly sales assistants; fossicking for treasures; my mother's magical researching and investigative powers (she is a super sleuth! This is highly useful when you're conversing with her about how you have absolutely no idea how you're going to get from London's Heathrow Airport to your hotel late at night); being asked nervy questions and not getting flustered; clowning around with my boyfriend like two naughty children; bad jokes; silly notes; and gosh! The sudden realisation that the next edition of It's Friday will be written in LONDON!
x Contact a friend with whom your communication has become unintentionally shoddy with. Perhaps it's that fabulous person who sent you a text message six months ago to arrange a coffee date, but you forgot to reply (don't worry! This happens frequently to me as well, usually because I think ''hooray! I'll reply right after this (insert scenario here)'' and uh, forget to, but lately I've been improving at this, and it feels good!), or someone you went to school with YEARS ago but haven't seen since.
x Switch off the lights and bask in the natural beauty of a candlelit evening, instead. Romantic, mysterious, electricity saving AND eco-conscious. Splendid!
♥
Happy, happy Friday! How was your week?
xoxo
